Cici Muldoon, PhD, is the founder and CEO of Serox, an Oxford-based company using advanced photonics and machine learning to analyse urine and detect disease, including more than 20 types of cancer, from a simple point-of-care test. She holds a degree in physics and finance from Princeton University and a doctorate in experimental atomic and laser physics from the University of Oxford.

Cici's first company, VeriVin, applied the same underlying spectroscopy to authenticate unopened bottles of wine; after testing the approach on other complex liquids including Manuka honey, olive oil and blood transfusion bags, she found the strongest business case in urine diagnostics and pivoted the company toward healthcare. She is also a qualified oenophile, an amateur ballerina and a classic car judge.
